FORD KUGA PLUG-IN & MILD HYBRID
The best of both worlds
Wherever the destination, the Kuga Plug-in Hybrid uses two sources of power to get you there more efficiently. An advanced electric powertrain lets you make shorter trips of up to 35miles on zero emissions and can recharge anywhere you have access to mains power. For longer journeys, the conventional combustion engine ensures you can go as far as you need to, using powersplit technology to help recharge the Hybrid battery as you drive.
A seamless blend of petrol and electric power
Kuga’s advanced Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) technology combines a battery-powered electric motor with a 2.5-litre Duratec petrol engine. The hybrid battery can be recharged at home or public charging stations. Energy recaptured while braking also helps charge the battery as you drive. Fully charged, the Kuga PHEV can drive up to 35miles†† on electric power alone, and a total hybrid driving range of up to 465miles.
Extra support for your engine
The Kuga’s EcoBlue Hybrid uses a mild hybrid system that includes an electric motor with a self-charging 48-volt battery. Regenerative braking recaptures energy usually wasted when you apply the brakes. The hybrid SUV uses that energy to assist the 2.0-litre diesel engine, reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.
Self-charging efficiency
The self-charging Kuga Hybrid combines a highly efficient 2.5-litre Duratec engine with a battery-powered electric motor and optional AWD. As with the EcoBlue Hybrid, the system, recaptures energy usually lost while decelerating. But the larger battery can store more power to further improve fuel economy and even drive short distances on electric power alone.
